Labradoodle puppies are the result of a careful crossing of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. Raising Labradoodle puppies is much more complex than simply introducing a Poodle to a Retriever. In fact, Labradoodle breeders systematically develop breeding plans. They identify dogs of each breed that have the ideal physical characteristics, health, and temperament. Breeders also introduce additional dogs and breeds to breeding stock to maintain exceptional health.
Labradoodles have a charming, almost clown-like appearance. While its body configuration is similar to that of the Retriever, the Labradoodle’s dense coat will vary quite a bit. Sometimes the southern maine labradoodles coat reflects the Labrador or Poodle lineage. Labradoodles can have a soft, short or long coat, or their coat can be a reflection of their Poodle kinship with a shaggy or fleece-like appearance.
Labradoodles are extremely smart and friendly. In part, his clown appearance is a reflection of his desire to connect with the owners or other people around him. In fact, they seem to look at people for directions or clues, often tilting their heads while looking at you curiously.
As a result of careful breeding, most Labradoodle breeders offer Labradoodle puppies in one of three size categories: standard, medium, or miniature. The size of the puppies depends on the size of the Poodle parent. For example, a standard poodle will result in standard-size Labradoodles. While it is impossible to accurately predict the size of puppies, most Labradoodle puppies fall into the following size categories:
- Standard Labradoodle – Standard Labradoodle can weigh between 45 and 75 pounds and will reach a height of 23 to 26 inches. Male dogs are usually heavier than adult females.
- Medium Labradoodle – The medium Labradoodle will weigh between 40 and 55 pounds and reach a height of 18 to 21 inches.
- Miniature Labradoodle – The Miniature Labradoodle will weigh between 25 and 45 pounds and will reach a height of 14 to 17 inches.
